Seven months ago I left Canada to attend a discipleship training school in Norway. Over these past months a little “coincidence” has been happening. I have been hearing the same thing proclaimed to me again and again – that I am a princess. Through friends, roommates, and leaders I’ve often heard “I don’t know what it is about you Ella, but you really look/ act/ seem like royalty! You are a princess!” Before I attended this school I had never heard that compliment spoken to me, and probably wouldn’t have considered it much of a compliment either. But it has become something so precious to me. I am ROYAL.

After school was over I started 6 weeks of traveling alone, hitch-hiking through Scandinavia and meeting up with friends along the way. I assumed my time of being encouraged constantly was over, and that seemed fine, I had gotten much more love than I felt I ever deserved. But who knew that God was just getting started! Literally every stop along the way of my travels I have been protected and blessed and loved by random strangers.

My journey started when a friend surprised me for my birthday and took me on a motorcycle trip down the southwest coast of Norway. Then another friend paid for my ferry ticket to Denmark, and also purchased me my own TABLE in a buffet, so I could eat as much as I wanted for the 4 hours. It was beautiful. On the ferry I began praying that God would show me who to ask to catch a lift to Arhus with. The first woman I asked had a crazy reaction. “COME WITH ME.” She dragged me across the ferry into the bar, after buying me a drink she looked me in the eyes and said “I don’t know what it is but as soon as I saw you I just knew you were a princess.” Who says that!? It’s one thing when God speaks to you through friends and people who love you, but when it’s a complete stranger it’s impossible to doubt that God is really speaking. She then led me to a sweet German couple who changed their whole travel plans and drove me right where I needed to go, with snacks and laughter the whole way.

On this trip I have received money, train tickets, free rides, dinners and housing. God has provided everything I need and MORE and is continuing to show me again and again, that he just LOVES me! We are on this journey together – him showing me his beautiful creation and people, and me giving him more and more of my heart and trust daily. Being loved and precious to a living God is beautiful. And I love being his princess!

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession…

(1Peter 2:9)
