Family in Vines full version

I was born and raised in Mexico, and it was through the amazing work of missionaries from Canada that I received Jesus as my personal Savior. My family and I moved to Canada in 1985. After several years of Bible Collage I became a missionary. I have been serving in Zambia as a missionary pilot for over seven years, together with my wife and three children.

During our time back in Canada while reporting on a home assignment, I became overwhelmed with the busyness of so much happening around me. I felt exhausted. So I found someone wise and mature in the LORD to talk to and he listened to my heart. This friend gave me some wonderful advice to take some time away from my regular life and enjoy a personal retreat.

He also offered to help with the costs of a retreat for my spiritual refreshment. I had heard about MARK Centre from a friend and so I booked a few days to go there. It was so refreshing to be reminded of the amazing spiritual discipline of taking time to listen to God. The environment was peaceful and the encouragement from staff was an amazing blessing.

Since this short retreat in July I have been practicing listening to God in a more intentional way and I’m finding it refreshing. I’m using Steve and Evy’s journal – Your Ears Will Hear – and it’s helping me in this journey of listening to God. I plan to encourage my fellow missionary colleagues and friends to consider doing personal spiritual retreats as well. Thank you so much!
