“He will cover you with his feathers,

and under his wings you will find refuge”

(Psalm 91:4)

Esthie – We decided on the name, “Seeking Sanctuary”, for our women’s retreat a few months ago. As I prepared for my part in it, the theme of rocks and wings emerged. “He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge” (Psalm 91:4) and “From the ends of the earth I call to you, when my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I” (Psalm 61:2) The physical setting enhanced both themes of wings & rocks – we stayed in a house on a rock by the ocean, with birds and even an eagle flying above us! The way God was with us in a caring way; the common threads that united the different sessions; the artwork created, and more, all reflected to me the great truth – that we stand on the Rock of Ages, covered and cared for by Him. In unique ways this was confirmed and experienced by all of the women who attended.

Raly – We want to know what God has next for us. With so many voices seeking our attention, so many things pressing in on us, we know God’s voice is more important than anything else. So we put everything aside and came on this retreat to be with Him. We enjoyed his presence, we heard His voice, and we rested in His arms. In him alone we find purpose, strength, security, comfort, healing and rest. AND INDEED GOD SHOWED UP BIG TIME, MORE THAN WE COULD IMAGINE, ASK OR THINK. HE CAME TO EACH ONE OF US IN BEAUTIFUL WAYS.

Sandy – We were all touched by the intimate love of our Father. One of the most powerful moments happened as we were asked to demonstrate one of the worship words with actions. One of the women, in obedience to what the Lord was asking of her, chose to bless one of the ladies who was struggling with life issues. She took her beautiful lavender oil and washed her feet and kissed them. Oh, so powerful!! The love of our Father was so thick between the women as heart issues were shared with one another. “Being in His presence” was our focus and we all left the retreat feeling touched by our Beloved and ready for the next step!

Jean – As I prepared for Seeking Sanctuary, it touched me that it’s God’s desireto dwell among us and when we make space for Him – like the Israelites did in the desert tabernacle – He fills us. A take away from the retreat for me was recognizing how faithful God is to always be with us, yet how He also meets us with surprises and fresh revelations of who He is and how much He loves us. I saw this lived out as a diverse group of women came together from different countries and life experiences, many without knowing anyone in the group but all had the desire to take time to listen and hear from God. It was powerful to see how He touched and filled each of us individually and to witness how He was at work in the lives and hearts of the women there. It was an incredible experience that I will continue to treasure and ponder in my heart.
